Did you know?
Personal information is information that, whether alone or in combination with other information, can be used to identify an individual. Personal information that can be used to directly identify an individual includes the individual’s name, personal identification numbers (e.g., Social Security number), health information, driver’s license number, telephone number, email address, mailing address, and any other information or identifiers that are unique to them. Indirect identifiers are not unique to the individual and include more general personal details like race and place of birth. While a single indirect identifier can’t identify an individual, a combination of indirect identifiers may provide sufficient information to identify an individual.
